- Ne légy türelmetlen. Szánj egy egész napot az utazásra. Különösen, ha a repülő után még vonattal is kell utaznod. Esélytelen az ügy, ha sietsz.
- Légy udvarias és kedves a sofőrökkel, kalauzokkal, jegypénztárosokkal. Jóval nagyobb az esélyed így a túlélésre (= célba érkezéshez). (És nehogy magyarázatot vagy bocsánatkérést várj tőlük a késésért!)

Nyisd ki az S betűnél. Itt fontos kifejezéseket találsz, amelyeket ő már az első „igazi” olaszországi utazása alatt jól az eszébe vésett. (nem hiszem el, hogy 1996 nyarán… ;)SCIOPERO: mindegy, hogy repülővel, vonattal, busszal utazol, alap, hogy ezt a szót ismered. Gyanús, hogy ez a helyzet, ha már két és fél órája álltok egy kis poros vasútállomáson.
SUBITO Scusi, quando parte questo bus? Suuuuubito!! – azután sofőr bácsi még kényelmesen megiszik egy kávét, megbeszéli a kollégákkal a tegnapi bajnoki eredményeit, talán még a barátnőjét is fölhívja :-) Szóval nem kell annyira rohanni, ha ezt a kifejezést hallod.
- Ne lepődj meg azon, hogy a „bennszülötteknek” szinte fel sem tűnnek a késések, járatkimaradások. Vagy ha mégis, nem akadnak fenn rajta. Az is természetes, ha a szállodai recepciós némi apátiával hallgatja magyarázkodásod, amikor a beígért 18 óra helyett végre befutsz hajnali 00.30.-kor.
- Vigyázz: néhány dolog épp ellentétes a Magyarországon megszokottakkal. Míg idehaza a buszsofőr rád ordít, ha fel mered vinni magaddal a csomagot a buszra („mégis mi a …nak van akkor a csomagtartó?!”), addig olasz kollégája személyes sértésnek veszi, ha a nagy hőségben képes vagy őt kirángatni fülkéjéből, csak hogy kinyissa neked a csomagtartót. („no, no, mi dispiace ma non funziona!” – hogy mi nem működhet egy csomagtartón…)
- Ne aggódj. A buszsofőr tökéletesen ura járművének. Még akkor is, ha 1. vezetés közben fél kézzel mobilozik 2. a sötét napszemüvegben tuti nem lát semmit 3. fél térdén egy csinos turistalányt egyensúlyoz, mert ugye akkora a tumultus… Mindezt persze kanyargó hegyi utakon, a sebességhatárt jócskán túllépve, lelkesen dudálva a kanyarokban. Ez így természetes.
Ha kellő türelemmel és humorérzékkel rendelkezel, bizonyára jól boldogulsz majd. De ha nem bírod a stresszt, inkább bérelj egy autót.

ui. bár e.ke leghosszabb ideig mindössze fél évet tartózkodott Olaszországban, de az évek során már számos tapasztalatra tett szert utazás terén. Szerencsére mostanában már nem múlik el év 3-4 olasz út nélkül.
