Olaszországban 2005. januárjában vezették be a teljes tiltást és mágikus módon működött. Biztos segít az is, hogy több mint 2000 EUR bánja, ha terhes nő vagy 12 éven aluli gyermek mellett rágyújt valaki – de tapasztalatunk szerint a bárokból és éttermekből is fegyelmezetten vonulnak ki a dohányosok.
És mi a helyzet Magyarországon? Továbbra is emelkedik a cigifogyasztás, a kávézókban meg nem lehet lélegezni (ld. Tandem). Az eléggé egyértelmű, hogy a cigi függőséget okoz és káros az egészségre. Miért ne lehetne teljesen betiltani? Az biztos, hogy 18 éven aluli gyerek esetén egy légtérben tiltani kéne a dohányzást (egészségi és nevelési okok miatt), beleértve az otthoni közeget is. Lehetne folytatni a terhes nőknek szóló tiltással – de lehet, hogy legegyszerűbb a teljes illegalitás lenne. Saját példából tudom, hogy az egészségi okok mellett a legrosszabb az, hogyan veszi át az irányítást a cigaretta az ember felett.
