A beszélgetés Olaszországban leginkább egy óriási bábeli hangzavarhoz hasonlít. A legfontosabb szabályok:

- ha úgy érzed, hogy a hangzavar miatt esetleg valaki elvesztené az általad tárgyalt téma fonalát, kezdj el hangosabban majd még hangosabban beszélni,
- mivel az idő kevés, a mondanivaló sok, igyekezz a lehető leggyorsabban beszélni,
- színesítsd mondandóat jól látható gesztikulációval, minél több és hevesebb, annál jobb (helyenként egy-egy teljes mondatot helyettesíthetsz megfelelő gesztikulációval, csak hogy spórolj a szavaknak szánt értékes idővel),
- a beszélgetés végén foglald össze a kitárgyalt témákat, hibátlanul!
Ha a következő tipikus kifejezéseket illeszted a társalgásba, senkinek nem lesz kétsége afelől, hogy vérbeli olasz vagy:
dai! – “gyerünk!”, “csináljuk!”, “fogjunk neki!”
su! – sürgetés, becserélhető a dai kifejezéssel
eh – (úgy ejtsük, mint ahogy nagyothalló nagymamánk mondaná) költői kérdés végére tesszük, de nemtetszésünket is kifejezhetünk vele a mondat végén
ma scherzi, eh? – lenézően: “most akkor viccelsz, ugye?”

niente – “á, semmi”, gyakorlatilag szinte bármikor beszúrható, de legjobb, mielőtt egy hosszú válaszadásba, magyarázatba kezdenél
