Mivel Gus gyógyíthatlan Diesel-buzi, gondoltuk, jól elkáprázatjuk azzal, hogy megmutatjuk neki, a helyet, ahol annak idején a Diesel farmerokat gyártották.
A hely, Crespi d’Adda, Milánótól 40 km-re található, ma az egész falu múzeum (bár lakik még ott néhány remeteségre ítélt őslakos), az UNESCO világörökség része.
Signore Cristoforo Crespi egy szép nap a 19. század végén, arra ébredt Bergamo közeli kastélyában, hogy milyen csodás is lenne megvalósítani az Utópiát. Pénznek, birtoknak nem volt híján, hát felépített egy textil üzemet, mellé házakat veteményes kertekkel, a szülővárosa reneszánsz templomának másolatát, kórházat, színházat, közfürdőt és egy iskolát. Majd pedig meginvitálta a nagyérdemű közönséget, hogy dolgozzanak a gyárában, lakjanak a házaiban és használják a közintézményeit. És persze mindezt ingyen. Így is történt és boldogan éldegéltek így a nagy közösségben amíg meg nem haltak (és amíg a Crespi család csődbe nem ment a ’20-as évek vége táján).
A textilgyár egészen 2004-ig még folytatta a működést, és – többek között – a Diesel farmerek gyártását.
A gyárat, a hol az eredeti berendezések érintetlenül megtalálhatóak majdnem sikerült is megnéznünk (ha nem éppen ebédidőben érkeztünk volna, amikor az idegenvezetés és a látogatás pár óráig szünetel).
Azért sétáltunk egyet “Utópiában”, tiszteletünket tettük a temetőben, fényképeztünk furábbnál furább virágokat és kertitörpéket (meg Zslatkó fenekét :-)
Néhány info, amit akkor még mi sem tudtunk:
- Crespi d’Adda volt az első falu Olaszországban, ahol bevezették az Edison-féle elektromos közvilágítást
- a közfürdőt meleg folyóvízzel látták el már a 20. század első éveitől
- Crespi d’Adda, habár Bergamo vonzáskörzetében van, mégis a milánói (02) körzetszámmal rendelkezik, ami onnan ered, hogy a 19. sz. végén a Crespi család közvetlen telefonvonalat telepített a villájuk és Milánó között
- A Versailles-i Egyezményen az I. világháború végén Olaszországot Silvio Benigno Crespi, az utopisztikus falu alapítójának fia képviselte
- a kastélyt és reneszánsz-másolat templomot úgy tervezték meg, hogy a kastély alakából egyenesen a templomkapura és azon át az oltárra lehet látni
